Visible Mending - Darning and Sashiko

Service Description

This workshop combines both our Darning and Sashiko Classes into one full Visible Mending day! Join us to learn the super creative, fun skill that is hand darning and sashiko stitching. The age old technique of darning is used to mend holes and reinforce thinning areas of knitted texitles – socks and jumpers. Sashiko is the beautiful art of mending and reinforcing worn areas of clothing using patches and rows of little running stitches (sashiko literally means ‘little stabs’). We’ll be teaching you basic darning and sashiko plus how to be creative with your colours and technique to make your mend truly unique and beautifully visible. Please bring along for Darning: - a holey knitted garment to mend - yarn if you have some, we have a small selection - a darning egg or mushroom For Sashiko: - something to mend, jeans and denim garments work best - scrap denim for patching We also offer these classes separately.
