Recreate Your Favourite Trousers

Service Description

Learn how to make a pattern from your favourite trousers! This class is suitable for pattern cutting beginners, however, some knowledge of garment construction is necessary. This is perfect if you have a garment you love that is worn to death, or just something you’d love in an array of colours and fabrics! This session will be taught by Geri Li, genius pattern cutter and founder of Pattern Wiz, she will be teaching you a step-by-step method on how to copy a garment that you can use over and over! You will start with learning the method of copying the garment into a pattern block, followed by knowledge on how to fit a garment accurately, how to measure garments accurately, how to finish and label your pattern accordingly, as well as all of this wrapped up in a workbook you can take home with you to remember all your new skills! Please bring along: - a garment you want to copy (a top is needed for this session, however if you have something else you would like to recreate we will be repeating this session to cover other types of garments) - Pencil (ideally mechanical) - Rubber - Tape measure - Scissors (both fabric and paper) - Pins - Something to make notes on - Any pattern cutting tools you own, e.g. tracing wheel, notcher, ore, curve ruler etc Don’t worry if you don’t have everything! We have some supplies here at DOLLY. Who is your teacher? Geri is a senior pattern cutter with 10+ years experience working in luxury fashion for brands such as The Vampires Wife, Victoria Beckham and Halpern. She is passionate about teaching & mentoring as through her experience professionally, found that others struggled to acquire good foundational knowledge that is needed to be a great pattern cutter. She loves being able to pass her knowledge and empower others in making their own clothes and advancing their skills whether they be hobbyist or professional within the industry.
